Stop Waiting for Luck. Start Building It.

"They just got lucky," we tell ourselves.

It's tempting to look at successful people in any field and chalk up their achievements to luck.

It's comforting, right?

Because it absolves us of responsibility.

But here’s the kicker: behind every "overnight success" is a backstory filled with preparation, persistence, and proactive steps.

The same goes for Real Estate.  Buying, selling, or building a home requires a bit of leg work to ensure the end goal… a new place to call home… is as stress free as possible.

To outsiders on social media, it appeared like a stroke of good fortune.

The truth?

A little luck can always help, but more often then not  we can exponentially increase our odds, and take you from frustrated to fulfilled with just a little bit of preparation.

It’s about recognizing that being prepared—arming yourself with knowledge and a solid plan—is what positions you to take advantage of opportunities when they arise.

That’s the real secret. ;)

So what does this look like?  Here are a few key action steps you, or your family and friends can take to get the best picture of where you are today… so you know how to get to that home in the future.

Action Step #1:  Talk to a lender.  A good loan officer should be able to give you a pretty clear picture of where you sit today, and what (if anything) is needed to get you where you want to go.  Having them as a resource is absolutely invaluable, and could save you a TON of money and headache down the road.  For example… getting or giving a gift for a downpayment?  Well, there’s a right way and a wrong way.  Save yourself the extra headache later, and get the answers today.  Leaning into their expertise will give you the road map to a successful transaction, and save you from surprises that may pop up.

Action Step #2:  Talk to a full time, professional agent.  (I know a good one!)  What does the market look like currently?  What’s your house worth?  What projects do I need to prioritize to sell my home?  Is the end goal even possible?  If it's not possible, we can circle back to action step #1 and find out what it will take to make it possible.  This step could be interchangeable with #1 too, I suppose.  What’s the dream situation look like?  Does the market's current level allow for finding that situation?  These are great questions to ask now… and then plug in the answers with your trusted loan officer for a clearer picture.

As you look ahead to the rest of the year, ask yourself this golden question…

What  can I do to better prepare for buying or selling my home?  Is there a right time?  You bet… sooner rather than later!

Each action you take builds your foundation for success in our market!

Here’s to building your own "luck” ;)
